Counting Breaths 1 to 10: The Simplest Meditation
Count each exhale from one to ten, then start again. When you lose count — and you will — simply begin again at one. Noticing that you drifted is the practice, not a failure.
This tip is scheduled for Wednesday 11 November 2026 — you’re early. It’s all here already; enjoy.
How to do it
- Sit comfortably and close the eyes or lower the gaze.
- Breathe naturally through the nose; don't control the breath.
- Silently count 'one' on the first exhale, 'two' on the next, up to ten.
- After ten, begin again at one.
- If you lose count or find yourself at 'seventeen', smile and return to one.
- Continue for 5 minutes.
