Chair Pigeon: The Desk Hip Opener
The deep muscles of the hip shorten when we sit all day. Crossing an ankle over the opposite knee — and, if comfortable, hinging forward — reaches them without getting down on the floor.
This tip is scheduled for Tuesday 10 November 2026 — you’re early. It’s all here already; enjoy.
How to do it
- Sit near the front of a stable chair with the feet flat.
- Cross the right ankle over the left knee and flex the right foot.
- Sit tall. If you already feel a stretch in the right hip, stay here.
- For more, hinge forward from the hips with a long back.
- Breathe slowly for 5 to 8 breaths.
- Return slowly and repeat on the other side.
