Vrksasana at the Wall: Balance Practice for Every Age
Balance is a skill, and like any skill it improves with practice. A hand on the wall makes Tree Pose safe for every age — and you take the hand away when you are ready.
This tip is scheduled for Tuesday 20 October 2026 — you’re early. It’s all here already; enjoy.
How to do it
- Stand side-on to a wall with one hand lightly on it.
- Shift your weight onto the leg nearest the wall.
- Place the other foot on the ankle, calf or inner thigh — never on the knee.
- Fix your gaze on a point at eye level.
- Hold for 5 to 10 breaths; take the hand off the wall when you feel ready.
- Switch sides.
