Surya Bhedana: A Right-Nostril Breath for Sluggish Mornings
In the yoga tradition the right nostril is linked with Surya — the warming, active side of the day. Breathing in through the right and out through the left is used to shake off morning sluggishness.
This tip is scheduled for Tuesday 1 December 2026 — you’re early. It’s all here already; enjoy.
How to do it
- Sit tall and rest the left hand on the knee.
- Bring the right hand to the face: thumb beside the right nostril, ring finger beside the left.
- Close the left nostril and inhale slowly through the right.
- Close the right nostril, release the left, and exhale slowly through the left.
- Repeat — always in through the right, out through the left — for 3 minutes.
