Palming and the 20-20-20 Habit
Every 20 minutes, look at something about 6 metres (20 feet) away for 20 seconds. Add a minute of palming at lunch. Small, regular breaks are kinder to the eyes than one long rest at the end of the day.
This tip is scheduled for Friday 13 November 2026 — you’re early. It’s all here already; enjoy.
How to do it
- Set a gentle reminder for every 20 minutes of screen work.
- When it goes off, look out of a window or across the room at something far away for 20 seconds.
- Blink fully a few times.
- At lunch, rub the palms together until they are warm.
- Cup them over closed eyes without pressing, and let the eyes rest in darkness for a minute.
- Lower the hands slowly and open the eyes.
