Chin Mudra: Five Minutes of Seated Stillness
Chin Mudra — thumb and index finger touching, hands resting on the knees — is the classic hand position for seated meditation. It gives the hands something steady to do while the breath settles.
This tip is scheduled for Friday 25 December 2026 — you’re early. It’s all here already; enjoy.
How to do it
- Sit cross-legged on a cushion, or on a chair with the feet flat.
- On each hand, touch the tip of the index finger to the tip of the thumb; keep the other fingers straight but relaxed.
- Rest the hands on the knees, palms down (Chin Mudra) or up (Jnana Mudra).
- Lengthen the spine and close the eyes.
- Breathe slowly and naturally for 5 minutes.
