The World Ranking Explained — Yoga's Answer to Badminton
How SEGA's global ranking system works: points accumulate across sanctioned international tournaments, rewarding consistency and true global standing.
Inspired by professional badminton, the SEGA World Ranking rewards athletes who compete consistently and internationally.
Here's how it works. Every athlete starts with their best International AI-judged score as their baseline. Then, every time they compete at a sanctioned tournament in any country, they accumulate additional points — the placement and grade of the event determine how many.
Tournament grades: · Grade 1 — Online Global Championship: up to 320 points · Grade 2 — Major Physical Championship (e.g. Goa, India): up to 150 points · Grade 3 — Regional Physical Championship (e.g. Thailand): up to 130 points
Participation itself awards points, ensuring that athletes who compete regularly are rewarded for their commitment — not just those who happen to win one big event.
We currently recognise tournaments hosted by UYSF (Universal Yoga Sports Federation), IYSF (International Yoga Sports Federation), and the Asian Yoga Federation. Only international tournaments count — national events do not contribute to World Ranking points. All points are subject to review by the SEGA Intercontinental Yoga Alliance and the UYSF community.
